7代目　R31型　スカイライン　プラットフォームは日産・ローレルや日産・レパードと共通。発売当初はスカイライン初の4ドアハードトップモデルと4ドアセダンのみの設定。しかし、従来のスポーツ路線とは大きく異なる高級志向は不評の結果となり、登場から1年もたたないうちに2ドアクーペやワゴンの導入というテコ入れが図られることになる。

The seventh R31 type skyline platform is common with Nissan · Laurel and Nissan · Leppard. Initially it was the first Skyline 4-door hard top model and only 4-door sedan setting.
