ギャランクーペFTOの後継車として登場したが、車名からも分かるようにランサーのクーペヴァージョンという位置付けだった。軽快なファストバックスタイルのハッチバッククーペで、ボディカラーは車名にふさわしい青や明るい黄色等が設定された。
