ギャランGTOの弟分的な存在として、1971年11月に販売が開始された。

車型は5座のファストバック＋ノッチバック（セミノッチバック）スタイルの2ドアクーペのみである。そのプロポーションは、ワイドトレッド&ショートホイールベースとかなり特徴的である。この軽快なクーペというコンセプトは、後年のFTOにも受け継がれることになる。

As a younger brother of Gyaran GTO, sales began in November 1971.

The car type is only the 2-door coupe of the 5 seat fast back + notch back (semi-notch back) style. That proportion is pretty distinctive with wide tread & short wheelbase. The concept of this light coupe will be handed down to the FTO of later years.
