1970年、2ドアセダンと4ドアセダンのボディ形状がラインナップされた。コロナとほぼ同等のサイズのボディに、丸形4灯式ヘッドランプの内外を分けたフロントマスクと、縦長のリアコンビネーションランプなど、独特のスタイルを特徴とする。テレビCMに千葉真一が出演、「足のいいやつ」と、初登場にして大ヒットとなり、当時としては長期の7年間にわたって販売された。

TOYOTA CARINA  First generation 1970 - 1977

In 1970, body shapes of 2-door sedan and 4-door sedan were available. Featuring a unique style such as a front mask that divides the inside and outside of a round four light type head lamp and a vertically long rear combination lamp into a body of approximately the same size as corona. Chiba Shinichi appeared on TV commercial, "It's a good football", it was a big hit with the first appearance, then it was sold for a long term seven years as a result.
