TOYOTA CELICA 2代目 1977-1981年　A40/50系

1977年8月、2代目にフルモデルチェンジ。先代と同じくカリーナと共通。ドアは先代と同じサッシュレスタイプで、センターピラー付のボディ構造となる。この代よりトヨタアメリカ(TMS)のデザインオフィスである、キャルティデザインリサーチ(CALTY)がスタイリングを担当。空力重視のスタイリングであり、日本初の三次元曲面サイドガラスが採用された。

Full model change in August 1977, 2nd generation. Like the previous generation, it is common with Carina. The door is the same sashless type as the previous generation, and it has a body structure with a center pillar. From this generation, Carry Design Research (CALTY), a design office of Toyota America (TMS), is in charge of styling. It is styling focusing on aerodynamics, Japan's first three-dimensional curved side glass was adopted.
