ゴルフIIをベースにした2代目ジェッタ。デザインは初代ジェッタのイメージを継承している。ボディ形状は2ドアセダンと4ドアセダンがラインアップされた。またトランクはハイデッキ化され、空力特性の改善とトランク容量の拡大に貢献した。

Second generation Jetta based on Golf II. The design inherits the image of the original Jetta. Two-door sedan and 4-door sedan are available in the body shape. The trunk was also decked high, contributing to improvement of aerodynamic characteristics and expansion of trunk capacity.
