ブルーバードUの後継にあたる。ボディタイプはセダン、2ドアハードトップ、バンで、輸出用にワゴンが存在。ロングノーズの6気筒2.0LモデルはG6シリーズとして続投。また、610型系では設定されなかったタクシー仕様車（L18Ｐ型搭載）が復活。
